Austria to Launch State Poker Site
Austria is expected to launch, withing the coming weeks, a national online poker site managed by the national government, according to Karl Stoss, head of Casinos Austria.
Svenska Spel, Sweden’s state run gambling operator, has helped develop the site using Boss Media technology platform and the site is expected to focus heavily on player protection and will be launched with a limited player maximum deposit if €800/week.
Although the site is expected to increase the popularity of poker in Austria, industry analysts andticipate a clampdown on private operators similar to what has occurred in Sweden.
