Cool Hand Poker Takes Aim at Sharks

Thursday, Tower Rock subsidiary Carmen Media Group announced plans to launch a poker site aimed exclusively at discouraging professional sharks from preying on casual players.

The new online poker room, Cool Hand Poker, looks to give online poker players some breathing room by limiting the number of tables each subscriber can play at to two for real-money games and one for tournament play. The logic behind the move is that, with such restrictions in place, it will take sharks much longer to pull a worthwhile take at Cool Hand, thus discouraging them from joining the site entirely.

The room’s site is already up at www.coolhandpoker.com and offers player favorites like Texas Hold’em and Omaha, as well as tournament play and a 100 percent sign-up bonus up to $350 per player. An advanced press release also teased that the site will give players a chance to win their way into the big land-based tourneys.

At the time this article went to press, press agents for Carmen Media could not be reached for further comment.
