Bwin Poker Hits Italy

Bwin officially went Vegas Sunday when it added online poker to its Italian offerings at www.bwin.it. The news comes with a simultaneous unveiling of the company’s brand-spanking-new P5 Poker Engine, developed by Ongame Network.

As the core system driving the poker platform, the P5, is a hands-down game changer, outperforming other engines and changing the way Internet poker is played with a capacity to accommodate up to 200,000 users at the same time.

"P5 represents a substantial investment and was developed in-house at B2B’s Ongame Network. We decided to go to the very heart of our game engine, rethink every line of code and re-write it if necessary. P5 represents a shift in mentality as much as it represents a shift in technology," Bwin Co-CEO Norbert Teufelberger said.

According to Teufelberger, the P5 is completely modular, providing scalability without risking stability. Because code releases can be "hot-deployed," it allows the company to run games 24/7 without needing to close down the system for maintenance and upgrades.

(... So basically it's the Ferrari of poker engines).

Bwin Co-CEO Manfred Bodner is also confident that Italy customers will love the new product, which was made possible by a recent change in Italian law to permit for-money online poker.

Our customers in Italy will be the first ones to benefit from the brand new game clients that offer a very sleek and intuitive gaming experience."
